Visual Arts

For year 7 Art we have been studying Australian Indigenous painters and paintings. We have made decorative boomerangs, worked with aerial perspective land maps, and have done group dot and symbols paintings.

We work in groups as Australian Aboriginals consider making art together to be a socially interactive ceremony. They see the process as being more important than the finished product.

For year 8 Art we have been studying book cover illustrators and the elements and principles of design they use. Students have been doing observational drawing from photographs even if their book covers will be cartoon like. Even the best cartoonists study real life and manipulate the image to meet their own means. Not only do our students work with drawings and on computers; they also make creative fonts and text layouts that fit in with their chosen theme for their final book covers..

I would first like to thank all my year 10 VCD students who have been friendly and worked hard to produce excellent works all year round.

We have been studying Australian bank note designs and the elements and principles of design that are contained within. Students have done observational drawings of either Australian banknotes or coins. They then researched Australian icons for drafting their own idea sketches. After each sketch they have to record their thought processes in the form of notes beside each picture. The final draft appears on computers because they can get a more finished professional look.

Have a great holiday and keep thinking creatively, especially to help the earth and the people stuck on it by gravity.

Music

Rohan Morrison

For 9/10 Music I would first like to thank all my year 10’s who have been friendly and found the courage to get up on stage and perform well with the the year 9’s. Since the performance we have been catching up with a lot of music theory. This was postponed so that we could spend more time practicing for our performance. We are mainly concerned with note values and timing and show examples from professional musicians around the world.

Have a safe and wonderful holiday everyone and connect with your family and friends.

Folk Dancing

Fusun Yemez

To all my dancers,

I am extremely proud of all of you. You have successfully learnt many different traditional dances that carry a lot of meaning in the Turkish community - and have performed them beautifully. Now that you’ve had your first on stage performance, all of you have gained more self confidence and have flourished your passion for dancing! Well done! I hope to continue this great success with you all next year.
